Catch All Discussion Board / Re: Client Area unable to access.
« Last post by CharlieF on Today at 02:42:55 PM »
All I want from my licensing provider is to provide me with music licensing nothing more, nothing less. I there were other value added services available I would evaluate them as they are available, but all I want is licensing. Oi2\SL has already failed in that service since I paid the $200 to ASCAP back in the end of July to hedge my bets and to insure my station continues to be licensed. I feel that the management of Oi2\SL has failed to keep us informed as to what is going on at least to my satisfaction. I couldn't care less about Bunji or any other product unless it supports the licensing product.

Sigh.....Nothing is ever simple. You might find the following informational.

https://www.corporationwiki.com/p/2ze508/oi2-webcasting-llc

Given the complexity of what is going and the interconnection of all these entities involved, I feel that patience on my part is the course of action while all the improvements are made. I think if Oi2's plan is to put us as Broadcasters in the mainstream of things by developing a better platform than Pandora etc...I say Thank You!....I never understood why Streamlicensing appeared to do very little to promote the streams they were handling...they are content providers as well as data/fee collectors... and especially when everyone has to launch thru them....Live 365 relaunched and is really for Hobby Broadcasters...Live365 makes a profit off your intellectual property and doesn't allow you do the same...all the while you pay them to create your own work....nice if you can get away with it! Personally I'm not spending 10 hours a week doing Music research and testing and hours on hours of Programming, Imaging, Sales etc...to creating hopefully compelling content... and then pay someone to profit from my work. ::)

As far as the PRO's changing their model of course they would like to deal with an individual... not a larger group like Streamlicensing/Oi2 which has the power of numbers. Honestly I have to say to Anthony and the rest of the staff (all of them), now that I have the information to see the bigger picture have been more than helpful. The task of coordinating and integrating what is going on is enormous and fraught with the unforeseen . Anything I can do to help?
....is there a living, breathing sample of Bunji we can sample?

It seems to me that the PROs are changing their model and going directly to the stations. Whether that's going to be more cost effective to us or not who knows. I also have my suspicions that Oi2 is moving to a content delivery provider and away from being a licensing clearinghouse. Time will tell but I think we are in for some major changes down the road.

Joe,

Live365 is really the only other “legal” and affordable option right now.  Sign up there and for $59 a month (if you agree to allow 4 minutes of ad time per hour), you’ll have 1500 TLH to play with.  From what you describe, that sounds like more than enough.  Good luck.

Help ! I am a tiny station perhaps 500 (THL) per week. I am tired of the StreamLicensing diet of good news, good news, BAD NEWS.
Nobody will miss me. Therefore, I intend to head back to Live 365.
Does anyone else have a suggestion for a 71 year old wanna be rock n' roll star ?--------- my station is  www.houstonrockpile.com
My direct email is josephbarry@msn.com
I would really like to have any low budget suggestions.
I have 15,000 mp3 rock n roll songs that I enjoy sharing. At least thank you for reading.     oldjoe

Sad News for SL !!!!
I too was curious and decided to make a telephone call. I just got off the phone with ASCAP in regards to this matter of licensing, at 2pm EST and asked them about the StreamLicensing issue and when they might be settled with all thats going on so I could consider coming back from where I am licensed now, and a lady named Lauren in Licensing at ASCAP, advised me that StreamLicensing is no longer licensed by ASCAP and ASCAP has no desire nor do they have any intention of renewing their license again, not EVER ! So it looks like as far as ASCAP is concerned. The reason for no contact is that , because they are now gathering up information on all the customers that decided to stay with SL ! I'm really sorry to have to relay this news because I was really hoping for a different turnout than what I just heard. :-(
I believe that to be true, however, StreamLicensing as a brand is dead and is rebranding as OI2 webcasting.  Did you happen to mention OI2 in your talk with ASCAP and will they be able to acquire a license?  You would think the same sentiment ASCAP has for SL would also carry over to OI2.

We've heard a lot from both sides. When I am served with a legal judgement, issued by a Court, that's what I'll believe. Until then, this is simply a pissing match and I'll go on broadcasting while wearing goulashes.

ASCAP know who each and everyone of of is. What's to 'gather?'

If that's true, why have they stopped the threatening emails?
