Me too. Since I'm low ATH, Live365 works for me, plus there are no other options for blanket licensing.

It seems clear that SL does not have a plan (or refuses to tell us what it is) and I have also heard repeatedly that ASCAP has no intention of reinstating SL under any circumstances. I got tired of waiting to see if SL would do anything to fix this mess.

Anyway, after 4 months off the air, I'm back on and happy to be doing my thing again.

Anybody Else wake this morning to find they have been double billed for this month! and on top of it the rate was even higher?

Excerpt from an email I received today:

With the billing system restoration, we are aware that a small number of customers who have made payments during the transition may appear to be “double-billed.” Please do not be alarmed, we apologize for any concern or inconvenience that this may cause and we are auditing to remove these anomalies. If you were automatically debited, you will be credited for this. We ask that you allow one to two working days for this process to complete then contact us for support if any errors remain.

Tickets that were raised since October 30th have been reset. If you find that specific problems remain and are not covered above, then please submit new tickets to bring these to our attention.

I don't know how cool the response is. Most of the email talks about Oi2's new product "Bunji"....

This makes me crazy that they would email all of us about "Bunji" and not update us on the issues with the PROs. How about it, SL????

Sounds like it only applies in Florida to recordings, not songs and lyrics

You could be right, but the fact is that we became SL customers so we could operate legally with licenses in place.

If SL gets its ASCAP and BMI licenses cancelled and three months later we still don't know how they're going to fix that, then what are we doing??

If I wanted to operate without a license, I didn't need SL to begin with.

Have there been any more communications from SL? At this point I'm out of the loop myself, but I would like to know what's happening in the event things take an upturn.

I'm not counting on anything good at this point, but not ready to stop hoping for a resolution, either.

With news of the BMI license being cancelled also, I have to say that I'm glad I did not sign up with ASCAP.

I will reiterate this: It is illegal in almost any state to fail to refund overpayment. SL has repeatedly stated they are willing to compensate us...ASCAP has said nothing of the sort...and rememeber you have audio tape of them saying all of this.

I wish SL success in getting back the overpayment. But I have nothing but criticism for the ill-conceived tactic of withholding payment from ASCAP. Paying our fees to keep us legally broadcasting has always been a separate issue from recovery of the overpayment - and SL should have foreseen that ASCAP would terminate SL's (and our) licenses - especially if it's true that payment was withheld for EIGHT months.

I like SL and I want to support them, but they are letting us down. It's time to end this and stop the bleeding. Fix it already. We should not have to risk broadcasting without proper licenses.

What I got out of it was that we are now covered for ASCAP through the new independent venture that Anthony initiated

Can someone elaborate on this please?

Is ASCAP acknowledging licensing coverage for SL customers through this entity yet? Thanks.

UrbanHitz, I totally agree with your comments. I am also a long-time business person and I am extremely disappointed with how this situation has apparently been handled by SL.

I would like to see SL get their overpayment back, but what you and I and the others here really care about is staying on the air and playing our music. SL seems to have screwed that up for us in their zeal to recover the overpayment - an overpayment that they caused themselves.

Somebody here is lying. I don't really care who that is. I want SL to do whatever it takes to make this right and get reinstated with ASCAP.

Otherwise, after this situation and what happened with LoudCity, I'm afraid I'm done with broadcasting, because I don't want legal problems and I don't want to deal directly with PROs.

The dispute over the credit is a separate ongoing matter that could ultimately wind up in litigation between SL and ASCAP. I don't doubt that SL's position is correct - but that's not the core concern for us.

What concerns me is that SL's ASCAP license was apparently terminated (whether rightfully or wrongfully) and that unless we sign up with ASCAP, we are exposed. The promise of indemnification doesn't offer much comfort to me as I do not want to have any liability to ASCAP whether that liability is indemnified or not - and I also do not want to sign ASCAP's (extremely far-reaching) agreement. Indemnification from SL does not mean that ASCAP has to leave us alone as individuals - only that after we face liability that SL may possibly make us whole again. SL has not obtained a court order directing ASCAP to leave the customers alone and let them continue broadcasting. I think that's what it would take.

The only reasonable course I see (without signing up with ASCAP) is to shut down until ASCAP reinstates the SL license. I don't think anything else will make me feel comfortable broadcasting again. I'd like to support SL - I like their service - but I do not want to end up on the wrong side of ASCAP myself.

A conference call has been scheduled for Sunday.
E-mail details will be sent out tomorrow.

Yes - as it looks more and more like there won't be a settlement before the 7/31 deadline, I would like to know if SL is on track with the other PROs and will be there for us in the coming year before I drop $200 to ASCAP on Friday.

Which still begs the question , what has that to do with us since we are not terrestrial radio ? Those fee's are for the brick and mortar station are they not ? I dont see what , if anything , that has to do with Internet radio ?

I think if you run both a terrestrial station AND an Internet station, the streaming part may be cheaper. Maybe someone can confirm?
