Catch All Discussion Board / Community
« on: April 25, 2016, 05:06:36 PM »
I've read the occasional post/comment about SL being sold.

What else can you guys share about the status of webcasting? Perhaps I will be able to get back into it someday.

However, seems like there are some concerns about the offerings for the service that has taken over SL?

Can someone provide a link to them or something, so I can see what they're about?

Thanks.

Catch All Discussion Board / Engineers, Producers, Mixers "My Eye"

I think politicians have been bought or duped.

Somehow, with the record that SE has on distribution of royalties properly, I don't see these cats getting jack.  >:(

Catch All Discussion Board / What's Happening on the Battlefront?

Hi, guys.

For those who are carrying the torch for microcasters, any new developments?

I just thought I'd check in every once-in-awhile to see how things are going.

StreamLicensing Blog / L365 & Current Fallout
« on: December 30, 2015, 09:17:40 PM »
I just checked out the forums @ L365 to see any updated news from the CRB fallout.

Only saw 1 post stating they might be shutting down. It had one reply stating that if they can sell  :o by 1/31/16 they might not, but that it

doesn't look good.

It's hard to believe things have gotten to this stage.  ???

StreamLicensing Blog / So SESAC Was Higher, Indeed!
« on: December 29, 2015, 05:43:54 PM »
Not that it means much at this point, but there was a consensus of  thought concerning SESAC's licensing fees being way too high, and not comparable to ASCAP & BMI fees:

From an article here: http://www.broadcastlawblog.com/2015/07/articles/radio-music-license-committee-settles-antitrust-suit-against-sesac-what-does-it-mean-for-the-radio-industry/

it says, "broadcasters have contended that past SESAC rates are far more, in comparison to those charged by ASCAP and BMI, then would be warranted based on the percentage of music from SESAC writers that is played on most radio stations."

Catch All Discussion Board / Identify Old CCM Song?
« on: May 31, 2015, 04:29:50 PM »
Hi, my friends. It's been awhile since I posted.

But I've written a book and am quoting the refrain of an old CCM song that was released in the 80's. I neither know the artist nor the true song title, but I can email the song to you as an mp3 if you think you can help. (My version was originally on a cassette tape so the sound quality leaves much to be desired.)

If you've been around the CCM scene since at least the mid-80's, I was wondering if you'd be willing to try to ID the song for me? Artist and song title or songwriter would be great! I think it's called "Healer" but I'm just guessing.

I've asked around on a few other sites and no one has been able to ID it from the lyrics alone. Please send me a message via this forum with your email addie if you think you can help, and I'll send the mp3 to you. I appreciate any help! Thanks.

Catch All Discussion Board / Altared Lives Radio Going Offline
« on: September 19, 2014, 09:48:36 AM »
The time has finally come to allow Altared Lives Radio to go silent. It's the transition to a new focus in ministry, and neither the time (for quite awhile) nor the finances to devote to the station are available any longer.

So many justifications and reasons to shut it down, but no sadness that I thought I'd have to one day swallow.  ;) I have peace about my decision, because this makes room for what I should really devote my time to -- one of which is daily living expenses!  ;D

Listenership has fallen to 50% of what it used to be in the past 4 years due to the popularity of other avenues for artist exposure. And the diminishing support (like iTunes' changes) are steadily making successful independent webcasting unsustainable.

I could not keep up the level of excellence I established for the station due to personal time constraints, and playlist upkeep had lagged since 2012. Security concerns on the web in general make the most unique features of ALR no longer wise to offer.

I haven't worked on a job for almost a year. No expenses have changed, but the ROI as it pertains to listeners and the mission of the station is much, much lower. So the sacrifice is not worth the costs anymore.

It has been a great journey! Altared Lives Radio has enabled me to meet some wonderful people who are still part of my life. And I wouldn't change that for the world!  :-*

To my listeners, "walk in your blessings," as I always say. Hope you enjoyed the ride.

To my fellow webcasters, I wish you all the best. Thanks for the advice, laughs, encouragement, and camaraderie.

Within the next few days and weeks, I will be wrapping up the loose ends as my various hosting services do not all renew at the same time. My website ministry, Altared Lives, will remain, as Altared Lives existed well before Altared Lives Radio.

May the Lord's grace lead you all into your respective destinies, as I look for Him to do for me going forward. Peace. :D

SAM / Playlist Page Not Responding
« on: August 06, 2014, 06:50:35 AM »
Since so many are using other software these days, I hope someone is still around who can help me with SAM.

My playlist page is no longer responding with requested information. Whenever anything is clicked or a search term entered, it returns only the default page.

Also, the little blue info buttons on the playlist and Now Playing pages are not returning information for the songs when clicked -- they're returning a generic blank page containing no specific information for the songs.

The Now Playing/Recently Played page is updating fine with the songs that are playing, though.

I don't know when the other two features stopped working. They were working 2-3 mos. ago. I used them to update the info on the New Music Adds page (simply to find the info and manually update the page -- the page doesn't automatically update).

Anybody know what's happening with those pages? I figured it might be something w/ mySQL but it's been almost 10 years since I did anything w/ mySQL myself. And that was only the minimum of what I needed to do to get SAM up & running. So I have no clue how to even check mySQL.  :o

Catch All Discussion Board / Followers on TuneIn
« on: June 06, 2014, 09:30:05 PM »
Ok, now I'm going to show my ignorance concerning connecting thru all these social networking options.

What does it mean to have "Followers" on TuneIn, and how do we webcasters communicate with them there to build community?

What am I missing in the privilege of being listed there concerning followers? I just noticed today that I have followers over there.   :o

I was just wondering what made those of you who are active in any forums (not just this one) become active participants in those forums?

I'm curious because each time I visit this one, I see anywhere from 10-18  guests, and I'd be the only registered member of the forum at the time of my visit. So I was wondering what inspired the rest of you active members to join forums (this one or otherwise)?

I usually joined because I had a specific question I wanted answered, or I had an answer for someone else's question. But primarily, it was to ask a question.

Not sure where this belonged, so I put it here in the "Catch All."

I created Artist Bio pages on my site, and added a new Category for the artist bio Articles, listed by alphabetical groupings.

Only problem is, when you click the Category link, "Artist Info" underneath the pages' titles, the bios that I added today are listed at the bottom of the Articles I created several days ago. The last 7 Articles were created today.

Here's the "Category" page that lists the pages:

http://altaredlives.org/index.php/artist-mini-bios/what-s-a-mini-bio/11-artist-info

I can't figure out how to put those 7 Articles (Recording Artists: B, D, M, N, R, O, & S) that I added today in alphabetical order for that Artist Info link or "Category." Can't find anywhere to adjust it.

Those last 7 are listed in the order that I added them to my site today. I'm trying to move them to where they belong, alphabetically, in the list. I alphabetized them under the main menu. Just can't get the Category page to list them alphabetically.

I even tried creating a new Category, then adding the Articles to the new Category in the proper order -- didn't work.

I think it has to do w/ the ID numbering for the pages. I couldn't find where to renumber the article IDs. I don't know if that's possible.

Streaming Software / Streaming App Development & Hosting
« on: March 26, 2014, 08:59:34 AM »
I hope this is the right category for my question.

I recently viewed a video about mobile apps. There are several sites that allow you to create your own app for various functions. The video presenter stated that these apps can be created for free because the developers of the services make their money from hosting the apps.

My question is, what about the apps make it impossible to host it on one's own site?

And, does anyone know of developer sites where you can create an app (free or for pay) and then put the app on your own site (or in our case, on SL's custom page)?
