Since it was NOT posted here, but an email was just sent out this morning...

Hi David,

While we continue to fight for the Small Webcasters Settlement Act to be re-instated, we must make necessary changes to help off-set some of these costs. You will continue to have the same pricing as you have now. As part of our effort to continue affordable royalty coverage, we are now requiring all broadcasters to use our web player in order to maintain compliance with StreamLicensing and the PROs. It is necessary for us to augment the difference in per-performance fess with SoundExchange, while continuing to provide the same pricing to customers. By using our web player, we will incorporate display and pre-roll ads that will help to make up the difference.

Beginning June 1st, 2016 all stations will be required to switch to our player which will enable us to pay the per-performance fees for you. If you wish to use a third party player you must agree to pay the additional per-performance fees each month. Simply open a ticket and our Managemen t Team will be glad to quote you the additional fees and allow you to opt out of the player mandate. You may obtain this link and information inside your control panel by navigating to http://www.streamlicensing.com/xstream/index.php.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. You may simply reply to this ticket at any time.

Warmest Regards,

The StreamLicensing Team

SAM / SAM Broadcaster is BEST! (2016.3)
« on: May 14, 2016, 11:24:07 AM »
That's all!

My station has run on SAM since 2001, once I left L365. Yes there have been troubles over the years, but through and through, it's the best solution for the station at this time. Definitely worth the $299. I know they have a 25% discount running as well.  :P Thanks Spacial.

Broadcasting News / Radionomy Stations Removed from Tunein...
« on: May 04, 2016, 03:35:55 PM »
Re: http://blog.primcast.com/

So, are any stations here hosted on Radionomy? I noticed something strange Friday when I got home from work and noticed the listener count plummet heavily. I didn't think much of it; strange, yes!

But what happened was TuneIn removed the ability for users to tune in via the Mobile App, if your station was believed to be a Radionomy hosted station. My station is NOT hosted on Radionomy. NEVER WAS and NEVER WILL BE!
I sent in a complaint email to a contact over there in Corporate to find out what was going on.
TuneIn listed my station as being a part of the Radionomy network. Couldn't be further from the truth. I am Shoutcast. This has since been corrected.
I would advise you all to check your stations and listings. If you are shoutcast and they have you listed as being a part of the Radionomy network, contact them ASAP!

According to Radionomy's Steam Policy Modification (https://board.radionomy.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=21377):
Code: [Select]
In order to limit our audience, the stations will not be accessible on TuneIn anymore and we have also decided to not pay stations producers for their US listening hours anymore as of May 1st 2016.

Broadcasting Software / ProppFrexx 3.0
« on: May 02, 2013, 11:17:13 AM »
I am testing this other software called ProppFrexx...Very nice program.  impressed. And it takes a lot to impress me in software.

It looks solid, and when you open it and start playing with it, it has a grown up feel to it.

Does anyone else have experience with this program?
see image here>> http://postimg.org/image/ty2yjc5mt/full/

...very nice guys. ...WOW!

Clearly this software is top notch. It comes with 4 players for your Playlist, and apparently up to 99 Aux/Standby players...and yes, it handles ALL types of media files for your input...damn! Can stream to Shoutcast, Icecast, WMAcast and Homecast...not bad. Also, you're able to assign an individual mixer channel to each player. And that's just the easy stuff so far I've learned. IT DOES NOT USE MySQL!!! And all of my tracks have accurate lengths to them. None of that -0:00  mess.

PF needs a user base to populate their forums for assistance, etc. The user manual has way too many "more to come soon" gaps about the most important aspects to be useful. But radio42 does provide help on the forums himself.

I'm intrigued...very. Let's see if this becomes more mainstream among internet radio. It has all the bells and whistles and can do everything the major players can do.

I've pretty much tried every other software suite out there, to gain an interest, in terms of the GUI, then comes the engine, etc.
It's high time that programmers step into 2013 with broadcasting software...get creative. As their user bases are no longer the older FM/AM heads. There are younger people out there that have no interest in the older way of doing things...imho
Even some of the older cats out there want something that looks good, is easy to navigate and friendly.
There's a HUGE market out there taking advantage of internet radio, and *most* of em are on shoutcast, and we know what software they are using. It's widely popular, and available and has a sizeable user base. I have used it since 2002.
And no one really has stepped up to the plate to challenge em.

Just as the title states. I am in search of a weekly R&B/Hip-Hop formatted show for my station. Maybe a countdown of the weeks top 10 songs, or whatever.
Show DJ can be loose, but must stick to the format.

You'll be responsible for the Production of your own show.
If anyone is interested, please contact me asap, and submit via EMAIL: UHRMusic@AOL.COM, your MP3 demo.

Thanks a million,
JE

Catch All Discussion Board / Toll-Free Numbers.....
« on: July 28, 2012, 08:50:52 PM »
Hello.

I would not use any service that charges you $50 to look up and get a Vanity #. even at&t doesn't charge a fee to choose a Vanity #.
All you do is use their toll free look up tool and see if the # is avail and place an order online, and within a week or less it's set up.

The difference with at&t is, they charge $15/month for each toll free number used with their service, + $0.07-0.08 a min.

NOW... If you are looking for a toll-free number for your station, and if you are in the USA, I recommend you use Kall8. I have used them for about 10 years and have 4 numbers there. The numbers only cost $2.00 a month + per min fees which is only 6.9 cents.

Check them out:   http://www.toll-free800.com/5934.htm

Now the $2.00 is only for 888/877/866/855. for 800, it's $5/Mo.

The kicker is, if you PORT in a Vanity/800 or ANY existing toll-free number, you only pay $2.00 a month + per min fees.
If you set up a Vanity or 800 directly there, it costs more per month.

But to just initially set up any number other than Vanity/800, you only pay $2/Mo.

Now for my numbers, what I did, was choose a Vanity number with at&t and then once it was active, I ported the number to the cheaper Kall8 service. That way, I got the number I wanted, without paying at&t $15 a month, more money up front.

I still paid my pro rated 1st bill, since I had to wait for the 1st bill to generate, and send it over to Kall8 to prove I owned the #.

But if you don't want to go that route, just choose one of the already available numbers over at the link and and I believe it's only $2.00 to sign up also, so you might pay a total of $4 to get all set up and activated.

Pretty cool. I love that place. I think it's the cheapest, you'll ever get, as far as a toll-free number is concerned. Especially if your station is like mine, only uses your studio number for requests, etc.

I also have a custom toll free fax #, but it's not with Kall8, since they do not allow outbound/email faxes... Only inbound.

Having a toll free # for your station says a lot about how professional your operation is and that you mean Business. Any station/business using email only to take requests or as a means of contact, doesn't cut it in 2012. People like to see they have an easier way to reach out to you via phone.

Also, if you do not want a toll-free #, you can opt to sign up for an Extra Google account and add a Google Voice number, and use that as a Studio Line/Request #.

Thanks,
JE

Catch All Discussion Board / Websites with music on AutoPlay
« on: July 09, 2012, 11:51:51 PM »
I would like to say, this digusts me! Nothing irritates me more than loading a website and being smacked in the face with an auto player, with the volume turned ALL THE WAY UP  and a blast of music hitting me in the head! ARGHHH!
Then, it's like a maze most of the time to find the button to turn that sucka off.
Why do people do this? It's annoying. People should give visitors to their site, the option of turning the music on, instead of smashing them in the head with a BLAST of music.
It's un professional and childish, in my opinion.

Anyway, How is everyone this morning?

Thanks...
