Catch All Discussion Board / Re: Licensing not paid?
« on: August 02, 2017, 07:40:05 AM »

Here lies the problem :
We are NOT terrestrial radio !
We are Internet radio and under a whole DIFFERENT set of rules.
I give you the ESCROW point , that seems to be an appropriate action in a case such as we all have experienced here. However , for 30 days, June 30 till July 31st, the reality is we paid for a service that didnt get paid and in fact ALL of us were operating ILLEGALLY unbeknownst to us !!

It wasnt our fault , it was the fault of SL and ASCAP knew this and didnt blame us, in fact they gave us a grace period because of it !

I feel that IMHO SL should have at the very least said to it customers, there is an issue we need to investigate , and without going into any financial details, we need to make our customers aware that a portion of your funds paid are going into escrow until this matter is resolved.

So in this case, ASCAP was being fair to us.

The story that there was a overage paid was an unsubstantiated accusation that was not properly investigated and stated WAY too soon.
Whoever thought of giving that information to us, needs to have their position re-evaluated !

Cooler heads would have much better prevailed rather than jumping the gun and saying something that now has been proven to be totally false.

This has killed any faith I had in SL and I will not be coming back. I will find another way. I am expecting my refund from them for the month I paid in advance.

I'm sorry , this is just NOT good business and I will take no part in it.

I left the begining of July when I first smelled this. I went to Live365 in March for a test drive, and just put my station to off yesterday. The prices are getting a bit steep for me, since it also comes out of my wallet.
Can't blame you a bit for leaving Bull. All this so reminds me of LC when they left us out hanging.
See ya on the other side Bull.

StreamLicensing Blog / Re: Browser Player Suggestion
« on: June 19, 2017, 09:22:29 AM »

Is there a way to further personalize the Browser Player - such as add a station's logo to it? It should not be a terribly difficult thing to add - so perhaps consider it as a future improvement?

Best regards,
Jordan

There hasn't been an update to this website for years, I would like to see that first myself, but your idea is good. And it shouldn't be that difficult to do. You might try shooting a support ticket to SL and let them be aware of it.

I wouldn't know how to use one, never have in the 19 years I've been broadcasting.  :(

Well we are back, but with icecast2 this time.
Shoutcast ver2 is really, really bad. If you change the name of your station, there is no way to change it back. Even, though they tell you to join their page to accomplish that. It doesn't do squat, and then you get spammed by them in your email. >:(

I gave up, and decided to use icecast2 instead. Hopefully it will be stress free! ;)

I use Safari on my mac, and haven't had that problem.
Hope they can fix it for ya.

If you are using our player then we have it touching the API every 10 seconds. Is it our player you are having issues with?

Hi Wes,
Yes it is. No matter what I put in there, the next song shows like 30 sec or so before the current one is done

I've set my song delay for the player, but it is still showing the next song before the one playing is ended.
I thought I had seen somewhere on here that it had been fixed. :(
I have it set to 15, should I make it longer?

I always found their broadcaster packages too confining but they had loads of great content.

Thing is they were too cheap with their bandwidth. Bandwidth is dirt cheap nowadays, and they just wouldn't get with the time and give us more.
It became to much work to always be changing playlists and songs on a daily basis with the little bit they gave. It would have been so much easier if they had given more, so there wasn't so much deleting and uploading having to go on.

Just visited the site again, this is a recent change, since I was just there last week.
Agree with Scroundrel though, they jumped ship before they knew what was going to happen for sure.
I'm sure when they come back though, it will not be anything like it use to be.

Am glad to see them coming back, but prefer SL.

I been keeping track on L365 since they shut down, and when they took the site down, the page then became a site under contstruction. I think they are just keeping it as a place holder and retaining their domain name just in case.
I had my stations there also besides LC and SL. But since they kept thousands of dollars of mine and never paid me, I would never return to them if they came back.
I enjoyed my 15 years there, and they were a great asset to Internet Radio.

Most modern day rippers use the "agent" of valid Winamp or other players. You likely wouldn't know if you're being ripped. Some will literally come in for an hour or so and then vanish. As many slice and dice songs based on metadata I've often delayed metadata by a random 10-40 secs after song start. Reports as it should but gives the end user an incomplete file!

What is interesting is the US demand metadata yet the UK PRO's discourage metadata for this very reason. :-)

I have the Icecast/Shoutcast servers to kick after 360 minutes (6 hours) however some players naturally reconnect but not many.

I've stopped worrying about chasing them, life has enough problems!

Richard.

Exactly Richard.
I just use RIP to control how much time they spend listening. As far as rippers go though, I like you gave up on them a long time ago.
