You probably will do well to get something used (to save money), and small (to save space).

I don't know if they still manufacture the tiny ones like I have -- a Behringer Eurorack MX802A. I've had mine for years.

I never used it for live input for my webcast, but I've used it for vocal recordings, stingers, and station drops.

Worked well for my purposes.

StreamLicensing Procedures, Info, & Questions / Re: Trouble signing up
« on: October 01, 2016, 08:38:27 PM »

I just tried to sign up as a test. However, my order began going through just fine.

So someone may have seen your post and addressed it already.

If not and the issue persists, I'm sure they'll be on it soon.

I used to webcast here but my login is no longer recognized by the webcaster area, either. I don't know how long you've been off air, but LC came under new ownership this year. So it is possible that accounts older than that may no longer be in the databases.

Glad you were able to get to the bottom of it.

I attached a Screenshot of the offending culprit for additional information in the Help Ticket I opened a few days ago.

Could you post the screenshot for us to see? I'm listening to your station now because I'm curious what you're getting. I want to see if I get it.

Does listening trigger it alone?

Edit: It's been 60 mins. now with no issue.

I use McAfee's virus/malware protection and there's a button to click on the page to get a report. When I clicked it, it gave a graph ranging from minimal risk to high risk. The SL page for your player registered "minimal risk" on the McAfee graph. That seems comforting, at least...

Thanks! And may yours and everyone else have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Prayers and blessings for all those struggling with the aftermath of this weekend's storm, as well.

StreamLicensing Blog / Re: New Player In Microsoft Edge Browser

It happened to me again tonight when listening to the new player in my FireFox browser. ...(I am never prompted to download the fix when using my FireFox browser to go anywhere else on the internet.)

Can't speak to this particular issue. However, I stopped using Firefox as my browser a few years ago because it repeatedly requested that I update my Flash player almost daily. And I always "updated" it. But everyday, Firefox would prompt me to do it. It got annoying, so I stopped using Firefox -- for anything.

Your challenge most likely has something to do with Firefox and how Firefox handles that player, which might not be able to be remedied by anyone except those who design(ed) Firefox. Or something with your computer is not "meshing" with the fix. (Which was probably happening w/ my computer and Firefox's Flash fix.)

But to steal a fellow webcaster's caveat (radiowayne): "But then again, I could be wrong."   8)

Nope. They are coming back. Check the website. No definite answers. But they are returning.

Hmmmm... interesting development.

Thanks for the update. For the record, I want to say that L365 gave me my 1st opportunity to webcast and were it not for them and the awesome webcasters there, like "Tony" (can only remember one of his stations, "Gospel Twang"), I would never have been w/ LC or SL. So I owe them a great deal and appreciate what they did for wannabes before SE came along and held webcasters hostage. I was among the 1st webcasters on L365 before they started charging for licensing fees. So I webcasted for free on L365 for awhile.

And then they started charging $5 a month, and some webcasters complained about that! (To me, if your dream is not worth $5/month, you need to find another dream that's worth something to you. Or simply become a hermit or something and leave living to the rest of us who have a passion for doing someting worthwhile that we place value upon.)

Yes, I believe copyright holders should be compensated for the use of their music. Don't get it twisted. However, webcasters (especially microcasters and small webcasters) got a raw deal and still do.

It's akin to obtaining marketing postcards from a business, and when you start handing them out for them, they say, "Now, you have to pay us $50 for every 100 cards you hand out. And the more cards you hand out, the more you pay per card." And you say, "But I'm incurring expenses for handing these out for you and I'm not receiving any part of the business I stir up for you!" But it falls on deaf ears.

;) Thanks, ROTRArmy. I remember when I started using forums -- some were easier to navigate than others.

Sometimes, if the forum is lively and friendly enough, all you have to do is post, "I've searched the forum for my answer, but I couldn't find it. I'm a newbie and if I've overlooked the answer, please forgive me. But..." and have at it.  :D

You might be pleasantly surprised how many people rush to your aid.

Congrats!  ;)

Since I'm unfortunately not webcasting anymore, I was wondering if there is any issue with stations that are nonprofit running ads? My station was a part of my nonprofit organization.

I don't think ads would be an issue for the IRS as long as my nonprofit was not raking in any funds. But then, I can't say for sure without inquiring about it.

Concerning artists and their "getting paid," I think stations should specifically point artists to the organization(s) that should be paying them royalties. Stations do not pay royalties "to" the artists. Soundexchange and the Performing Rights Organizations pay the royalties to the copyright holders (which are the artists, in most instances of indie artists, I would suppose).

I was continually trying to educate the artists on my station to the fact that they need to be in the face (so to speak) of Soundexchange and any PRO they belong to, asking where are their royalties, if they have an issue of not being paid. The bottom line is, very few are going to make any "living" money from royalties, just because of the way the payouts are calculated and constructed.

"That's" why artists need to be touring and such. Even the "big artists" make the majority of their money from touring and marketing merchandise, "not" from royalties.

I have never been an early adopter.  ;) I have hesitated on upgrading to Win10 simply for that reason, because I have some great software that I've had for a minute and use quite frequently (not webcasting software). I'm not sure they will run in Win10 since they precede it by several years.

Therefore I'm not chancing it at this point. I try to generally wait until most bugs have been worked out of new OS's, then I wait a little longer until MS introduces an even newer OS.  ;D

So I've always been 2 operating systems behind when it comes to MS. Can't say that I've had any issues with it, either, to this point.  ;D But that's just me...

But like radiowayne would always end, "But then again, I could be wrong."  :P

(Hey, where is radiowayne anyway. Is he still webcasting? His caveat at the end of his comments was always so funny.)
