All Request Show
« on: July 23, 2014, 09:53:38 AM »
I have a question with regards to DMCA rules regarding request. I would like to have an all request show once or twice a week. The plan is to have request cutoff time 3 hours before airtime. Would I be in compliance with DCMA if program note which says something along the lines of "All Request show 7 PM - 10 PM"  without giving a time any specific song will play (or if we will even play a specific song). Any and all help is appreciated.  ;)

I posed this question to support and am posting the answer here for others who may have a similar question. ;D

The DMCA rules are at:http://www.streamlicensing.com/directory/index.cgi?action=page&page=faq and 'What limitations do Copyright Laws impose on my song playlist?'.

It seems this will be OK as long as the listener requesting the song will listen long enough for it to play. I will put this on hold for any other replies.

The DMCA says we're supposed to wait 60 minutes before playing a request. If you're putting a cutoff of 3 hours before airtime you'll be fine.
