Finding the source?
« on: January 29, 2015, 11:34:10 AM »
Hello,
I've recently spent hours upon hours of successfully adding our station to many internet radio directories. It seems like it has been really doing as of late, however since doing that, I've noticed a fairly new connected source (user agent). The name us "Lavf 55.12.100"

Most are from the same country/ area. Would anyone know how to find out the program/ site they are using to listen to our station? Are these listeners legit? (Or is there a way to tell they are legit)

Most don't stay on for more than 2 or 3 hours (unlike the iTunes app, which I think are mostly bots because they stay on for upwards of 2 days before I kick/ ban them - sometimes less of the # of listeners is reaching my limit)

Any help would be great. Thank you!

They are usually legit. It is a flash player user agent. I wouldn't really worry unless they were tuned in 24/7 and the IP address WHOIS lookup goes back to Romania or something like that.

Many TuneIn radio clients are also Lavf.

Thanks for your help. I guess that is very good news then. I was worried at first. I did update the link recently (on TuneIn) (it changed about a few days after I submitted it to them) about 6 months ago, so I guess it makes sense.
